Come one, come all, to the Royal Ball of the season! This year, we’re welcoming local legend Andrea Bettger to the stage alongside Saskatoon’s all-star polka supergroup, 1-800-POLKA!
1-800-POLKA takes its inspiration from the small-town prairie old-time dance bands of days gone by. Featuring Joseph Desjarlais on fiddle and Rochelle Wright on accordion, members and siblings of Gil & Wil, and Jake Vaadeland's Sturgeon River Boys, the band will showcase accordion, guitar, fiddle, drums, banjo, beautiful harmony vocals and more. Having formed to play at the historic Danceland hall in Saskatchewan's polka capital, Manitou Beach, they have found themselves in high demand as (quite likely) Canada’s youngest prairie polka dream team ever since.
Since moving to Yellowknife in 2008, Andrea Bettger has become a sought-after performer and teacher. She has developed fiddling programs for youth and adults both within Yellowknife and throughout the NWT, and has become heavily involved in the Aurora Fiddle Society. Andrea has written and self-produced a fiddling book with recordings for beginners, devoted special attention to Métis and Northern fiddling and has been promoting the sustainability of this style through her performances and her teaching.

Get ready to shiver and shake with the mighty Kimmortal. A second generation child of Filipino immigrants, Kimmortal grew up in the strict confines of religious dogmatism. Their experiences making art gave them the freedom to imagine something more. Supporting Kimmortal on the Snowking stage is local mainstay Jonny Vu, with his dynamic blend of pop, rap, and R&B sound, Koleya with their raw bars, and snow castle newcomer Lil Vogel, a pop instrumental artist making their first live appearance.

This event needs no introduction. A cornerstone of the Castle, the Royal Rave will see you dancing till you forget it’s -20 outside. Joining us this year are alleycat, DJ Glad It’s Night, and DJ Blorb. alleycats sounds are shaped by long winters and cold nights, living in late-night house and UK garage while leaning on moody melodies & heavy beats. Yellowknife based DJ Glad It’s Night brings soulful rhythms built on smooth basslines, and nostalgic harmonies. Rooted in house, funk, and UK garage, his genre blurring tracks glide between familiar classics and forward-leaning club energy, blending between anticipation and release. DJ Blorb like sounds made for the girls, the gays, and the ghouls. They are not above using Shazam at the club.

To see out the season we have non-other than garage punk band NOBRO. Based in Montreal, Quebec, NOBRO has been an act to be reckoned with. Their album “Set Your Pussy Free” won the Juno for Rock album of the year and 2025, and it doesn't look like their slowing down anytime soon. Joining NOBRO are local punks HYFY with their unlistenable music about intractable issues, and pop-punk trio Punch Dummies!
